Let’s bring back this complete circle of parts I and II. Regarding the future viability of cloud computing … there are issues to be solved and issues to consider. But there are also benefits and opportunities. You must understand the picture as a whole to make an informed conclusion.
Repeating the questions in Part I:
* With so many companies eager to announce their development in cloud computing / SaaS / PaaS in 2009, is cloud computing really economically viable in the long run?
* Will large companies and small and medium-sized businesses really turn to cloud computing and virtualization?
* What will be the benefits and problems associated with the same thing?
* Which industries are more likely to be the pioneers of cloud implementation?
I believe that more and more companies are continuing to grow and invest a lot of money in cloud computing technologies … we will see small and large businesses connect to it. As supply increases, small businesses can benefit because costs will decrease. For larger organizations, they will see other benefits, such as disaster recovery, availability requirements, and faster delivery to customers around the world.
In considering the benefits and risks of this technology, I think it depends largely on whether the cloud is public or private. Private clouds are a lower risk for businesses, but their cost is higher because the entity bears the entire bill for the technology. Public clouds like Amazon offer lower costs but more risk because of the safeguarding of private information on public systems. The benefits of both are similar, if they are well done. Businesses will benefit from improved uptime, reduced downtime due to outages, and increased availability for customers.
Any industry that transmits information to mass communities around the world will be at the forefront. These are mainly media companies such as news organizations, whose main purpose is to transmit information to the customer as quickly as possible. In an example of news, the company that will broadcast the fastest story will get more readers. So, by using this technology to transmit information to customers around the world, the faster will have more readers and benefit from cloud computing.
The benefits of this new model are clear and huge. The customer still has total control of his services through various web administrator portals, but he no longer needs to purchase hardware directly, slot it in a rack, pay for power, cool the air, the upgrades, the maintenance, the expensive engineers to help them, the replacement of the equipment, the list is long … They have to pay for what they want, when they need it. Just like tap water or electricity from the socket.
